Our corporate history dates back to 1781 (First Year of Tenmei, Edo Era) when we were established. Since then, we have developed our business operations for as long as 228 years till the year of 2008 despite many big and tough changes in the long history. Now, we, as one of the major and representative net makers in Kyushu, proudly manufacture and process various types of nets for fishing and other uses. Through our net production, we have made great contributions to the development of the worldwide marine industries and to the stable supply of fish proteins to consumers in the world for over two centuries. We are very proud of our technical advancements we have made so far as the pioneer. We have achieved technical developments in fishing net production. For example, we successfully made meshed fishing nets by machine in 1908 (41st Year of Meiji). We made various types of twined strings for fishing nets and made fishing nets with mesh-knots in 1923 (23rd Year of Taisho). We made these achievements for first time in the industry. We were also the first Japanese fishing net maker that processed nylon ropes into nets. It was the year of 1953(28th Year of Showa). Since 1954 (29th Year of Showa) when we signed up a special contract with Toray, we have been responsible for all the processes of fishing and other net production: We purchase various types of raw strings of Toray® Nylon and Tetron from the reliable supplier, process them into twined strings, make, dye and refine them into fishing nets at our own factories under our full responsibility and severe quality control. We have been distributing our gill nets, drift gill net, other types of fishing nets and ropes to a great number of fishers and users in Kyushu & Okinawa, other domestic areas as well as in the world through our distributing agents. We officially started our exporting business back in 1984 (59th Year of Showa). Since then, we have been distributing to the worldwide markets various sizes of gill nets made out of mono nylon and multi-mono nylon. Now we export our fishing nets to eleven countries where our fishing nets have been satisfying our customers as top brand nets. Back in 1990 (2nd Year of Heisei), we restarted the production of nets for land use. Since then, we have been stably providing mesh-knot safety nets made out of Unitika’s Ester and Toray’s multi-nylon to the Japanese market. Just like we proudly have done so far, Nagaura Net would like to make great contributions to the stable supply of fish proteins to the worldwide markets through our nets and to the stable supply of fishing nets to traditional inshore fisheries here in Japan. |
